John Cena will be back and not just on WWE SmackDown.
Fox Sports reported earlier in the day that John Cena would be making his return to Friday night on September 1 in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Cena himself took to social media to not only confirm that, but give a little intrigue for fans in India as he’ll be stepping back into the ring for the very first time in front of the country on September 8 at the Superstar Spectacular.
“Cannot wait to reunite with the WWE family live on Smackdown! Especially excited to meet the WWE Universe in India and wrestle for the FIRST TIME EVER in India! The time is NOW…. C U all VERY soon!”

What Will John Cena Do In His WWE Return?
The fans last saw John Cena in the ring as he opened WrestleMania 39 in a United States Championship match against Austin Theory. Cena lost the fight, but received the expected massive reaction from the SoFi Stadium crowd in Los Angeles. He did return at Money In The Bank in London in a segment with Grayson Waller.
The possibilites for Cena could be extremely intriguing as he’ll be returning at a time where Intercontinental Champion Gunther could be even closer to surpassing the Honky Tonk Man’s record for longest reign as champion. Just before the weekend, Cena may have leaned into that notion when he simply posted a photo of Gunther on his Instagram. However as of this writing, Gunther will have the task to defeat a game Chad Gable on Monday’s WWE Raw, who earned his title shot weeks ago.
