John Cena Confirms Number Of Appearances On WWE Retirement Tour

John Cena will be on the first episode of Monday Night Raw in 2025, when WWE moves to Netflix.

WWE first announced the historic media rights deal at the start of the year, confirming the new home for Monday Night Raw will the streaming service Netflix from 2025 onwards. The agreement, said to last 10 years and valued in excess of $5 billion, will see Monday Night Raw move off mainstream TV for the first time ever. With this in mind, the first episode of 2025 is shaping up to be a historic event, and it appears John Cena will be a part of it.

In an interview with Complex recently, Cena was asked for his thoughts on the merger and whether he would be in attendance on the inaugural episode of Raw. Cena emphasised the magnitude of the deal, and confirmed:

I’ll be there for the debut. I think it’s 1/6. I’m not sure, I think so; don’t quote me on that, but it’s a history-making day for WWE. I’m so very proud of WWE. Man, I’m such a fan of the merger. I love the two companies, WWE and Netflix, and it’s an event that I will not miss. I will be there.

John Cena’s appearance at Money in the Bank sent shockwaves across the wrestling world, as the 16-time champ announced his retirement. Cena is set to embark on a run of final appearances and matches at various events before his retirement match at WrestleMania 41 in April 2025.

Recently John Cena said that he has signed a contract extension to WWE that will take him past the year 2025.

While John Cena’s opponent at next years’ WrestleMania is currently unclear, the match is confirmed to be his last before stepping away from the squared circle. It appears Cena is in favour of this arrangement, and has stated that a big motivation for setting the date was to avoid “lying to [his] audience”.
