John Cena Comments On Sami Zayn’s WWE Ascencsion Ahead Of WrestleMania 39

John Cena & Sami Zayn in WWE

If there is one person who knows a thing or two about soaring to the top of WWE it is John Cena and he recently heaped praise on Sami Zayn’s meteoric rise.

As WWE gears up for WrestleMania 39 one name that has been intrinsically linked to the build is Sami Zayn. His epic rise in the lead-up to the two-day spectacular has seen him become a major focal point for the company.

His emotional tale of acceptance and betrayal involving the Bloodline and Kevin Owens made him the industry’s biggest talking point. The expert way in which he delivered the story saw him connect with the audience, who were with him every step of the way throughout the lengthy drama.

Throughout the whole ordeal, Zayn has received applause and plaudits from peers and pundits alike. Now the legendary 16-time World Championship, John Cena has praised the former Honorary Uce. Speaking in an interview with Whiskey Ginger, Cena said the following about Zayn.

“I gotta give Sami his comeuppance,” Cena said. “Here’s a guy that’s been in the business a long time and worked really hard in circuits outside WWE and made a great name for himself, then got in WWE in the ‘NXT’ program and made a great name for himself, then got in WWE and kind of struggled to connect with the audience. Everyone now, because he’s very popular now, thinks it’s like, ‘Alright, it clicked.’ His character went through a major reconstruction just about three years ago, maybe even a little bit more than that… I can see it, I can see how hard he works and I see how he’s invested in connecting with the audience.”

John Cena and Sami Zayn Have Faced Off In the Ring

In 2015, Zayn made his surprise Monday Night Raw debut. He answered Cena’s United States Championship open challenge in his hometown of Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

More recently the two were once again on opposite sides of the ring. On the last Friday Night SamckDown of 2022, Cena teamed with Kevin Owens against Zayn and Unified WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns.
