John Cena has addressed the WWE crowd.
Kicking off the March 17th episode of Raw from Brussels, Belgium, John Cena appeared for the first time since his shocking Elimination Chamber heel turn. Earlier this month in Toronto, Cena shocked the world when he attacked Cody Rhodes and joined forces with The Rock.
Absent since then, Cena appeared tonight ahead of his WrestleMania 41 match against Rhodes. Entering a heavily booing crowd, Cena made his way toward the ring. While the 16-time World Champion soaked in the boos, he took his time before explaining his heel turn.
Blaming the fans for his character shift, Cena claimed that he has been the butt of an invisible joke for nearly fifteen years. He further emphasized that he is not a heel, but a human being, to whom the fans have been awful.
“I am not a babyface. I am not a heel. I’m a human being. Each and every one of you has been awful to me. It’s been the same damn noise for 25 years.”
Cena further explained his extensive winning record and dedication to satisfying the fans, yet these endeavors consistently fell short. Cena then spoke about his retirement and how the fans ruined that. He was soon interrupted by Cody Rhodes, who was treated to loud cheers by the Brussels crowd.
Rhodes stated that while the fans gave Cena their worst, they also gave him their best. The American Nightmare then reminded Cena to go and find his real self before WrestleMania 41 and not be a “whiny b**ch.”
While many have praised the heel turn, a WWE Hall of Famer has criticised John Cena’s promos for being “weak.”
Cody Rhodes’ Mother Has Some Harsh Words For John Cena
Following his heel turn earlier this month, John Cena was at the receiving end of some harsh words by Cody Rhodes’ mother. Speaking with Bill Apter of Sportskeeda WrestleBinge, she said:
“I was just shocked. Completely shocked. I would have never, never thought that was going to happen. I mean, he was a friend of Cody’s, and, of course, Dusty knew him, but I wouldn’t call him a family friend.
I would say, ‘John, you should be ashamed of yourself. You had a beautiful career. Everybody loved you and and now you’re just an a**hole.’”
