John Cena Believes A WWE Movie Could Be On The Horizon

John Cena recently shared his thoughts on the cinematic portrayals of the wrestling world, praising two notable films: “The Wrestler” and “The Iron Claw.”

In a conversation with Jeff Goldblum on “The Jimmy Kimmel Show”, John Cena emphasised the challenges and triumphs of portraying wrestling stories in film.

There have been a number of wrestling movies over the years, some poking fun at the sport and others taking a more serious tone.

Cena noted, highlighting how both “The Wrestler,” a fictional account of a wrestler’s struggles, and “The Iron Claw,” which chronicles the Von Erich family’s legacy, have resonated with audiences.

Movies about wrestling, they are a tough subject matter to tackle. Movies like ‘The Wrestler’ and movies like ‘The Iron Claw’ have done a really good job in telling the story of the individuals. It is such a larger-than-life thing and there are so many memorable names.

Cena elaborated on the narratives of the two films.

‘Iron Claw’ is about four marquee players in Texas. ‘The Wrestler’ is the story of a marquee player who has passed his prime and what he’s trying to do in collectively trying to pick up the pieces of his own life. It’s that rock star not being able to step off the stage story.

He concluded with a hopeful vision for the future of wrestling cinema:

Wrestling, sports entertainment, WWE is like a treasure chest of stories. When I see a movie done well like ‘Iron Claw’ or ‘The Wrestler,’ it gives me hope that more stories can be told because there are so many stories in our library.
