John Cena Feigned Bathroom Break To Get Ex-WWE Star On WrestleMania

John Cena WrestleMania

Former WWE Superstar Brodus Clay has revealed John Cena conveniently had to go to the bathroom to make sure Clay wasn’t cut from WrestleMania.

WrestleMania has grown so exponentially in recent years that it now takes place over a whole weekend but time on The Grandest Stage Of Them All can be like gold dust, and occasionally those further down the card can find that their WrestleMania moment has been scrapped for time.

At WrestleMania 28, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon was ready to cut Brodus Clay’s huge dance routine complete with plenty of mommas, as time was getting tight ahead of the huge main event between The Rock and John Cena.

Speaking on Chris Van Vliet’s Insight podcast, Brodus Clay – who now competes as Tyrus – revealed John Cena feigned needing the bathroom to allow time for Clay to get his moment on the big stage:

“He [McMahon] was like, ‘I think we’re gonna have to cut it,’ and then all of a sudden Cena is getting ready, he’s right behind me, he looks at me and goes, ‘I gotta go to the bathroom.’ I went, ‘What?’ He’s like, ‘I gotta go to the bathroom, I dunno, usually I go to the bathroom I dunno what… eight minutes, six minutes.’ I was like, ‘Six? I can get it in six.’”

Two years later, Brodus Clay got to compete on WrestleMania for the one and only time in his career when he took part in the inaugural Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal, won by Cesaro.
