John Cena Claims Austin Theory Has More Talent Than He Ever Did

John Cena & Austin Theory

WWE legend John Cena has claimed that Austin Theory has more talent and natural gifts than he ever had.

On the April 18th episode of Monday Night Raw, Theory as he is now known, defeated Finn Balor to win the United States Championship for the first time. The new champion and the Irish star have had a stop-start rivalry for a number of months, and this time it was the young upstart who claimed his first ever main roster accolade.

While the championship is now seen as a stepping stone to bigger and better things, there was a point in 2015 where it became synonymous with John Cena and his series of open challenges. These matches found Cena being pushed to the limit by stars such as Cesaro, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens.

In total, Cena has held the United States Championship a total of five times, it was also the first title that he won on the main roster.

Never one to miss an opportunity to try and stir the pot, to mark Cena’s birthday on April 23rd, Theory sent the star a happy birthday message, and an apology for being a better champion than him.

Cena has since responded by praising the young star, commenting that he has nothing to apologise for. In fact, he’ll only have to apologise, if in 20 years he hasn’t made the most of his natural talent.

Interestingly, since this interaction it has been reported that Theory could be set for bigger and better things as Vince McMahon see him as a “young John Cena.” The report adds that the United States Champion will be given everything he needs to be successful.

Meanwhile, John Cena hasn’t wrestled since September 10th 2021 where he appeared in a dark match on Friday Night SmackDown at Madison Square Garden.

His last match on WWE television came at SummerSlam where he was defeated by Roman Reigns as he attempted to win a record 17th World Championship.
