John Cena Among Unexpected Stars Spotted In France Ahead Of WWE Backlash

SAG-AFTRA Strike Set To End; How Does This Affect John Cena's WWE Status?

WWE Backlash is nearly here, and John Cena is among those in France ahead of the event.

Back in November, WWE revealed that Backlash would be taking place in France for the first time in history. With May 4th fast approaching, fans are looking forward to seeing Cody Rhodes defend his WWE Championship against AJ Styles among other blockbuster matches.

According to a new report from PWInsider, two unexpected stars are in France ahead of Backlash. The report notes that both Charlotte Flair and John Cena have been spotted in the area. There is no word on what their roles might be for Backlash, if any.

Flair has been out of action with an injury since the December 6th episode of SmackDown, where she tore her ACL during a match with Asuka. She underwent surgery soon after, and was expected to be out of action for at least nine months. While her recovery is ahead of schedule, Charlotte’s father Ric Flair cautioned against fans wanting an early return, saying his daughter needs to be 100%.

When Did John Cena Last Wrestle In WWE?

John Cena, meanwhile, made a surprise return to WWE at WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia, PA. During the match between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns in the main event of night two, Cena made a run-in to even the odds on behalf of Cody Rhodes against The Bloodline.

The next night, Cena returned to official in-ring action when he served as the mystery partner for R-Truth and The Miz in their match against Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor, and JD McDonagh of The Judgment Day.
