John Cena is reportedly a “lock” for WrestleMania, as the status of four WWE legends has been reported following the monumental announcement that The Show of Shows will take place over two days.
A new report from WrestleVotes suggests that the creative team for WrestleMania is working on “bigger” ideas and that the company believes they now need four major matches, two per evening, and are looking to outside names to do so.
The tweet reveals that John Cena and Goldberg and “nearly locks” according to WrestleVotes, while stating that The Rock is “unlikely” to be there and finally that The Undertaker’s status is “to be decided” right now. A follow up to that says many believe Undertaker to be done, but that one phone call usually changes all that.
Once a decision was made to run the 2 night card for Mania, the creative team started working on “bigger” ideas. Thought is WWE now needs 4 MAJOR matches, 2 per show. That probably requires outside assistance from big names. Cena & Goldberg nearly locks. Rock unlikely. Taker TBD.

Goldberg’s appearance has been long suggested, with the ever-rumoured Roman Reigns match speculated, and the WWE Hall of Famer taking on Drew McIntyre at the Royal Rumble. Meanwhile, John Cena’s last WWE appearance was at WrestleMania 36 in a Firefly FunHouse Match.
The Rock’s last WWE match was at WrestleMania 32 against Erick Rowan, while The Great One hasn’t appeared in WWE since September 2019 in a segment alongside Becky Lynch.
Undertaker, of course, retired at Survivor Series on the 30th anniversary of his debut – bidding his Final Farewell to the WWE Universe.
