AEW have announced that Joey Janela will be pulled from all upcoming AEW programming after coming into contact with a COVID-19 positive individual.
In a statement, the promotion announced that Janela has been pulled from tonight’s episode of Dynamite. ‘The Bad Boy’ will not return “until such time as he is cleared to return consistent with our protocols.” The incident did not occur at an AEW event and Janela was instead exposed at an independent show.

Janela last competed for the promotion on the October 7th episode of Dark, defeating D3, whilst last appearing on Dynamite in a losing effort against Miro & Kip Sabian alongside tag partner Sonny Kiss on the September 23rd episode.
Janela was scheduled to face Kenny Omega in the first round of the World Title Eliminator tonight but has now been pulled from the tournament entirely with Omega now facing Kiss instead. Currently 2-0 against Janela in AEW, this marks the first singles meeting between Omega and Kiss within AEW.
