Joey Janela Proves He Is A Bad Boy As He Turns On Sonny Kiss

Joey Janela

‘The Bad Boy’ Joey Janela certainly lived up to his name after he shockingly turned on his tag team partner Sonny Kiss, with Kiss offering his response to Janela’s actions.

The New Jersey natives began teaming together in March 2020 picking up several wins on AEW’s YouTube show Dark against a variety of opponents. Although the duo’s time on the flagship show of AEW Dynamite was limited, they did take on the likes of Mr. Brodie Lee and Colt Cabana, Chris Jericho and Jake Hager, and Kip Sabian and Miro. The loss to Sabian and Miro on Dynamite in September 2020 was the last time the pair competed together on that show.

On Monday’s YouTube offering, AEW Dark: Elevation Janela and Kiss were making their way to the ring for a tag team bout against Baron Black and DMC. While Kiss performed his usual pose, Janela blindsided his partner with a superkick to the face. With Sonny Kiss laid out, DMC and Black came to the entranceway to help their would-be opponent only to suffer their own vicious beating at the hands of Joey Janela.

After dispatching both Black and DMC, Janela returned to Kiss planting him with a piledriver on a metal ledge right in front of the seething fans in Daily’s Place.

Sonny Kiss took to social media to respond to Janela’s stunning betrayal, saying:

“Guess I shouldn’t be too surprised, right?!”

Tony Schiavone was joined by Eddie Kingston at the announce desk for Monday’s edition of AEW Dark: Elevation. Red Velvet made it eight straight wins in a row as she gets ready to face Dr. Britt Baker for the AEW Women’s World Championship on the inaugural episode of AEW Rampage.

Jade Cargill was back in action finishing opponent Amber Nova off in short order with her Jaded slam. Former FTW Champion Brian Cage defeated Ricky Shane Page who is competing in AEW as RSP. In the main event, The Lucha Brothers defeated another brother tag team as they put away Matt and Mike Sydal.
