Joey Janela says Brutus ‘The Barber’ Beefcake “kinda sucks” after he refused to cut the Invisible Man’s hair!
Former AEW star Joey Janela is no stranger to controversy or criticism from wrestling veterans. However, some veterans embrace the star, and he teamed with X-Pac to defeat Matt Cardona and Brian Myers at GCW’s Welcome to Heartbreak earlier this year.
As it turns out, one of those critical of the more fantastical elements of wrestling is Brutus ‘the Barber’ Beefcake, who used explicit language when turning down Janela’s request that he cut the hair of the Invisible Man, another GCW mainstay who once won the annual Clusterf*ck at Joey Janela’s Spring Break 2 in New Orleans, LA in 2018 by eliminating MJF.
“Most of the guys I’ve worked with are pretty cool. But we brought Brutus ‘the Barber’ Beefcake to England to do one spot. I was wrestling the Invisible Man in Blackpool, England. I said to Brutus, ‘After I beat the Invisible Man, you just come in and cut his hair.’
“He was sitting there drinking his Bud Light, he goes, ‘What do you think I am, a fucking asshole? I just flew all the way here, fucking fourteen hours, flight delays, all this and you’re gonna make me fucking cut an Invisible Man’s hair? Make me look like shit? Fuck you.’ Then he sipped his Bud Light. ‘I’m sorry, man.’ Brutus ‘the Barber’ Beefcake kinda fucking sucks.”
Continuing, Janela launched insults at Beefcake’s appearance.
“Brutus ‘the Barber’ Beefcake, no disrespect to him, he looks like a corpse that you threw in the river and left rot under the sun for a few weeks. He looks like a bloated warlock corpse. Besides that, I kind of respect Brutus ‘the Barber’ Beefcake because he made a lot of money in this business. I think he was just in a shitty mood and didn’t want to be there. But you flew all the way there to do what, drink Bud Light and do nothing.”
While the Invisible Man’s Clusterf*ck win was impressive, he went viral when he faced off against his evil brother Invisible Stan the next year at Spring Break 3. Current AEW referee Bryce Remsburg officiated the match, which saw a dive from a balcony and ended when the Invisible Man drove Stan through a table in the corner of the ring. Remsburg had to don special sunglasses in order to see both competitors in the match, which can be viewed in its entirety here.
