TNA World Champion Joe Hendry has teased a major surprise for this weekend’s Rebellion pay-per-view, hinting that a WWE megastar could be appearing at the event.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio on Monday, Hendry revealed that a main roster WWE talent, not just someone from NXT, may be part of the show on Saturday, 27 April.
“We don’t need to reveal who it is, but I know (Tommy Dreamer) knows who I’m going to be speaking about here because this person told me that you guys had a conversation,” Hendry said. “You said you wonder who might show up at Rebellion. One of the WWE megastars, who has a tour bus, told me they wanted to show up to Rebellion with their tour bus. We’ve got WWE megastars who want to get involved.”
Hendry will defend the TNA World Championship at Rebellion in a triple-threat match against Frankie Kazarian and WWE NXT’s Ethan Page. While NXT and TNA talent crossovers have become more common, a WWE main roster appearance would mark a significant escalation in the ongoing partnership.
The interview also addressed Hendry’s WrestleMania 41 appearance, where he lost to Randy Orton after answering an open challenge due to Kevin Owens’ injury. Some fans called it a squash, but Hendry disagreed.
“I disagree,” he said. “To me, a squash would have been the bell ringing, me taking an RKO, and that being it.”
“My job as TNA Champion and what defines this reign is business and getting as many eyeballs on TNA Wrestling as possible,” he added. “To me, that’s exactly as it should have gone.”
“There’s no shame in taking the RKO and losing to a legend like Randy Orton,” Hendry concluded.
