Joe Hendry made his much-anticipated return to WWE NXT on July 9th.
Revealed as the mystery partner for Trick Williams, the TNA star once again received a thunderous ovation from the live crowd as he made his signature entrance to a WWE ring once more. Teaming with Williams in the main event of the show against Shawn Spears and new NXT Champion Ethan Page, Hendry got the winning pin after hitting the Standing Ovation onto Spears. Page was chased away from the ring after he was attacked by Oro Mensah, making the main event a handicap match. Hendry and Williams celebrated in the ring together as the show went off the air.
This was the second time that Hendry has appeared on NXT TV following his viral debut back on the June 18th episode. Appearing as a surprise entrant in the battle royal, Hendry was quickly eliminated before confronting Shawn Michaels backstage and stating that he would appear on any show. Returning on July 9th, Hendry was given the full entrance and full match to the delight of the crowd and announcer Vic Joseph while fellow commentator Booker T remained confused by the overwhelming fan reaction.
