Jimmy Uso made his long awaited return to SmackDown following a long injury layoff.
The special Throwback Edition of the blue brand opened with Roman Reigns, Paul Heyman and Jey Uso eulogising the career of Daniel Bryan. The trio were then joined in the ring by a returning Jimmy Uso.
Jimmy hasn’t been seen in action since competing in a Triple Threat Ladder Match for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles at WrestleMania 36. The return marked Jimmy Uso’s first appearance on WWE television since Reigns locked him in a Gullotine to force Jey to announce he quit at Hell In A Cell.
While Jimmy immediately reunited with his brother at the start of SmackDown, things were far from plain sailing.
Throughout the night Jimmy was seen questioning Jey about his alliance with Roman Reigns. Jimmy tried to reason with his brother saying that he shouldn’t be doing Reigns’ bidding.
As the show reached it’s conclusion Reigns called out Jimmy to the ring. The Universal Champion told the returning star that he had to choose between going home or joining him. Reigns’ questioned Jimmy about being stuck in the past, adding that he and Jey were moving forwards after their matches in the past.
Jimmy started to leave the ring, before Jey tried to reason with his brother. Out of nowhere, Cesaro then hit the ring attacking Reigns. Jey ran to the Tribal Chief’s aid, while Jimmy initially resisted. However, Jimmy eventually ran in to try and save his brother, before taking an uppercut from Cesaro. The show faded to black with Cesaro standing tall, with the Usos and Reigns trying to regroup.
Earlier on in the night, Cesaro defeated Seth Rollins to earn a shot at Roman Reigns’ Universal Title at WrestleMania Backlash.
