Jimmy Smith – “Roman Reigns Can’t Fight. He’s Just A Big Muscular Dude”

Roman Reigns celebrates at WrestleMania 38

Former Monday Night Raw announcer Jimmy Smith has made some bold claims about Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

Since returning to WWE at SummerSlam 2020 following a short hiatus Roman Reigns has been on the finest run of his career. Just weeks after attacking Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman at the summer specular, Reigns won the Universal Championship and he has held the gold ever since, his reign now standing at a staggering 779 days and counting.

To further solidify his position, the Tribal Chief captured the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 38 by defeating Brock Lesnar.

During this two-year period Reigns has defeated some of the biggest names in history, as well as the best that WWE currently has to offer. However, Jimmy Smith has claimed that in ‘real life’ and a legitimate fight situation, Reigns would be much less impressive.

“Roman Reigns Can’t Fight”

Appearing on MMA on SiriusXM, Smith discussed the atmosphere backstage in WWE before making the eyebrow raising claims about Reigns.

“The WWE behind the scenes is more CM Punk than Brock Lesnar. Does this guy look like he can fight? That is what the WWE is about. Roman Reigns can’t fight. He looks like he can fight. He’s just a big muscular dude. Daniel Cormier does not (look like he can fight). You put (Cormier) next to Brock Lesnar, and it looks like a man and a kid, and WWE is all about that visual.”

Jimmy Smith joined WWE in May 2021 replacing Adnan Virk who had only been in the role for a few weeks. Smith worked across Monday Night Raw and on Premium Live Events. He remained with the company until a recent shake-up which saw him leave his position as WWE returned to two-person commentary teams. Kevin Patrick and Corey Graves now call the action on the red brand.

Roman Reigns will be back in action WWE Crown Jewel on November 5th when he defends his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Logan Paul.
