After landing the job of replacing Adnan Virk on Monday Night RAW, Jimmy Smith has now responded to fans who were critical of his appointment.
Taking to Twitter, Smith said that while he is stepping into a new world, he invites everyone to watch the show and judge his work for themselves.
“Hey guys, well it’s been a busy day. Apparently @WWEliked my work so far. I know I’m stepping into a new world (I WAS a Mr. Perfect and Bruiser Brody fanatic however) but know I’ll do everything I can to honor the athletes and fans. Watch Monday and judge my work for yourself.”
Jimmy Smith will join Corey Graves and Byron Saxton in the announce booth for the May 31st to make his debut on the red brand.

Smith isn’t a totally new face to WWE audiences as he appeared on the pre-show panel for NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver. More recently Smith appeared in a talking head segment ahead of the NXT Title clash between Karrion Kross and Finn Balor.
Away from Monday Night RAW, WWE have reportedly released announcer Tom Phillips.
Phillips began working for WWE in 2012 on the WWE app which then morphed two years later into the acclaimed WWE Network. Phillips’s broadcast career for WWE was varied with him taking on announce duties for Raw, SmackDown, NXT, NXT UK, and Main Event at different times.
