Jim Ross was a big fan of Jesse Ventura’s return to WWE at the Saturday Night’s Main Event special.
December 14th saw the company turn back the clock to present the returning special that heavily paid homage to the original run of events that took place in the 1980s. Along with classic graphics and themes that were a nod to the original show, Ventura was seen alongside announcer Joe Tessitore throughout the broadcast and was a guest announcer in the main event match between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens.
Given that he has not made an onscreen appearance in the company for over 10 years, fans were still complimentary of Jesse Ventura’s performance and look forward to the Hall of Famer’s return at the next Saturday Night’s Main Event show in January. When asked about Ventura’s performance on Grilling JR, veteran announcer Ross was in agreement with the fans:
“It was good. It was a good touch.”
Ross also added that he was pleased that Ventura was able to make it to the show given his connection to the NBC special:
“Jesse is really the true voice of Saturday Night’s Main Event … I didn’t hear anything negative about it.”
