Positive Update On AEW Announcer Jim Ross Following Latest Surgery

Jim Ross Undergoes Cancer Surgery

Jim Ross took to social media to share an encouraging update following his cancer surgery on his right hip.

His post on his X account expressed gratitude for the support he received, emphasising the positive outcome of the procedure. This development comes after Ross’s previous revelation about his skin cancer diagnosis in October 2021 and subsequent radiation treatments, amounting to over 20 sessions. Although Ross announced being cancer-free in December 2021, he has been undergoing further treatment for radiation-related wounds.

The successful cancer surgery marks another chapter in Jim Ross’s storied career and ongoing battle with the disease.

On February 6th, Ross’ Griling JR co-host and friend Conrad Thompson took to social media to update fans on JR’s progress, noting that the AEW announcer is in good spirits and is hoping to return home from the hospital soon.

“Just FaceTimed with @JRsBBQ and he’s in great spirits and thinking he will get to go home soon! His nurses are taking great care of him and his lovely daughter is there helping run point. He asked me to let everyone know the latest and if you don’t mind, throw one up for him!”

When Is Jim Ross’s AEW Contract Expiring?

Jim Ross, who is presently under contract with AEW, disclosed that his existing deal with the company is set to expire on February 14th. However, he expressed his desire to prolong his tenure with AEW and expressed specific interest in calling Sting‘s retirement match in the near future.

Ross, who recently celebrated his 72nd birthday, embarked on his AEW journey prior to its inaugural show, initially committing to a three-year contract in April 2019. Subsequently, in May 2022, he announced the extension of his association with AEW for approximately 18 months, cementing his continued involvement with the organisation.
