Jim Ross shared the unfortunate news that he’s once again been diagnosed with cancer.
WWE Hall of Famer and AEW broadcaster Jim Ross is no stranger to health struggles, and in 2021 he was diagnosed with skin cancer that required aggressive radiation and left him with a lingering wound even after being declared cancer-free. Ross gave a positive health update in December of 2024, stating his wound was healing and that he had home health care helping in his recovery.
Unfortunately, the Hall of Famer took to social media today to share the news that he’s once again dealing with cancer, this time in his colon. He also confirmed that he’ll be undergoing surgery soon, writing:
Diagnosed this week with colon cancer. Surgery being scheduled in the next week or two. I appreciate your concern and support.
When Does Jim Ross’ AEW Contract Expire?
After decades in the world of WWE, Jim Ross signed with AEW as one of the original members of the promotion. Ross confirmed in March of 2024 that he’d signed a new contract with the company, and speaking on a December episode of Grilling JR, he revealed the date his new contract expires and addressed his ongoing health battles. He said:
“Oh, yeah, I think so. My contract expires in August [2025]. But I don’t have any sense or feeling that I’m not gonna be kept. Because of the schedule I do, I could maintain that for years to come. I’m not saying that in a braggadocios fashion. This is what I do. This is what I was born to do. As long as my heart is beating and I’m healthy, and right now, I’m healthier than I’ve ever been. Once this wound heals, and it’s getting closer and closer, I’ll be 100%. I’m waiting for my hip to heal from hip surgery.” (h/t Fightful)
Everyone at ITR Wrestling wishes JR well in his ongoing battle with cancer.
