Jim Ross Recalls Animal Prank Played By Owen Hart On Vince McMahon

Owen Hart

Jim Ross has recalled the incredible prank played by Owen Hart on WWE Chairman Vince McMahon involving a flock of farmyard animals.

In 1995, the then-World Wrestling Federation showcased a new match for the ages at their December in Your House pay-per-view when Henry O. Godwinn faced Hunter Hearst Helmsley in an Arkansas Hog Pen Match.

The object of the match was to throw their opponent into a specially erected hog pen complete with live pigs, dirt, and the remnants of the pig’s evening meals from the night before. Helmsley pulled off the unlikely victory but then ended up being slammed in the hog pen himself to the delight of the crowd. Helmsley may have been less thrilled given the laceration on his back that he suffered during the match.

With live animals needed for the match, this meant they had to be delivered to the Hersheypark Arena before the show. Speaking on his Grilling JR podcast [available at AdFreeShows.com], Jim Ross revealed that notorious prankster Owen Hart directed where the animals should be kept until it was their time to shine on pay-per-view – Vince McMahon’s office.

JR explained:

“Oh yeah, that happened. That I can remember happening. Vince was not happy about that and of course, everybody knew who did it but nobody would talk. Vince knew who did it. Owen, that was one of his best ribs man. Vince’s office had the wonderful odor of untrained farm animals who were having trouble controlling their bowel movements in Vince’s little office there at TV.”

Mark Henry, Hart’s old teammate in The Nation Of Domination also recently discussed another prank that the King of Harts pulled on the WWE Chairman:

“Nobody was exempt. He made Vince almost fire him one day. He duct-taped Vince’s briefcase to the ceiling fan in Vince’s office, and Vince came in and the ceiling fan was smoking. It burnt it up. He didn’t quit. He’d superglue your shoes to the floor. All kinds of stuff.”

Jim Ross also had his say on Triple H’s WrestleMania 12 outing against The Ultimate Warrior. Ross bemoaned Warrior’s “insecurities and paranoia” for the match not going as originally planned.
