Jim Ross doesn’t know how WWE will benefit from purchasing AAA.
On night one of WrestleMania 41, WWE made the shocking announcement that they had purchased majority ownership of Mexican promotion AAA. AAA was founded in 1992 by Antonio Peña and Konnan and is currently one of the most popular wrestling promotions in the world. Their roster also includes Alberto El Patron (formerly Alberto Del Rio).
Speaking about the move on a recent edition of Grilling JR, WWE Hall of Famer and AEW broadcaster Jim Ross admitted he doesn’t see what WWE has to gain by purchasing AAA, but that he’s in full support of what happens next for both companies.
“A little bit of a head scratcher. I’m not sure what the value is, how much you can monetize that investment but I’m fully supportive of it, no doubt about that, but I believe it’s the right move. It’s going to be interesting to see how it grows and all that good stuff so hey, let’s just let it grows and see how it evolves.”
“I’m Just Anxious To See How It Grows” – Jim Ross
WWE Senior Director of Content and Development Jeremy Borash looks to be quite involved when it comes to the partnership between the two companies, and continuing on his podcast, Jim Ross praised Borash and pointed to his ability to successfully build a brand.
“I’m a fan of Jeremy Borash. He’s a smart guy, does a good job of building, he’s a good brand builder …. so good for him, good for AAA and I’m just anxious to see how it grows.”
