Jim Ross is a big fan of this WWE Hall of Famer’s commentary.
After spending decades in the world of professional wrestling, AEW broadcaster Jim Ross has become one of the most iconic voices in the history of the industry. Speaking on a recent episode of Grilling JR, Ross had high praise for Booker T, who has served as color commentator on NXT since 2022. He began by pointing out that Booker is not only hilarious, he’s also a great person to work with.
“Do you ever listen to Booker’s commentary on NXT? He’s funnier than hell. ‘Shucky ducky quack quack.’ He’s one of the best [guys in wrestling], and a good dude.”
Continuing, Ross spoke about encouraging the 5 time WCW Champion to be open about his past in order to better connect with the WWE audience.
“I was the guy that encouraged him to tell his story, his story about going to prison and rehabilitating himself, getting out of prison, making his way in the indies with his brother, Stevie Ray. Booker, his story’s great, and I’m proud of him. He’s got a wonderful family and he’s got a good business building there at this school and his promotion. So he’s made the transition very well.”
“I’d Love To Work With Booker T Someday” – Jim Ross
Finally, Ross pointed out that Booker has done well to reinvent himself as a commentator after years of competing inside the squared circle. Ross says he’d love to work with his fellow WWE Hall of Famer someday.
“Booker T’s a great example of how a wrestler can redesign or relaunch their own career because that’s what he did, and he’s successful at it. Now, he’s got a regular gig, he’s on TV every week, and he’s funnier than hell. If you listen closely to his commentary, it’s very entertaining. I’d love to work with Booker T someday. I think we’d have a blast.”
After many setbacks over the past few years, Jim Ross recently gave fans a positive update on his health and his future plans in AEW.
