“Cactus Wasn’t A Hell Of A Worker”: Former Champion On Mick Foley

Mick Foley is renowned for his physically demanding wrestling style, incorporating a mix of brawling and perhaps most notably, daredevil stunts.

Best is best known for his work in WWE under the ring names Mankind, Cactus Jack, and Dude Love and yet Mick Foley was already a beloved icon of hardcore wrestling fans long before his WWE debut in 1996. Throughout his career, Foley achieved significant success, winning multiple championships and earning a reputation for his resilience and willingness to endure extreme physical punishment for the sake of entertaining fans.

His infamous Hell in a Cell match against The Undertaker in 1998 is widely regarded as one of the most iconic and brutal matches in wrestling history largely down to two especially dangerous bumps taken by Foley, from the top of, and through the huge steel structure. Whilst speaking about Foley’s mentor, Terry Funk, and his brother Dory, wrestling veteran, King Parsons gave his thoughts on how Foley’s approach to wrestling changed professional wrestling forever. “Cactus wasn’t a hell of a worker so he turned this business into taking a hell of a bump. He was smart. See what I’m saying? He said, “If I can’t do all these moves like these other guys do, then follow this!”

Iceman Parsons, also known as “Iceman” King Parsons, is a retired American professional wrestler who gained prominence in the 1980s and 1990s. Born on May 22nd, 1949, Parsons made a name for himself in various wrestling promotions, including WCCW and UWF. Speaking in 2008, he talked about how smart Mick Foley was in getting over by doing what he could do best.

“Cactus Jack would destroy his body takin’ crazy a*s bumps. But he made money doing that.”

Parsons also spoke highly of both Funk brothers and their abilities in the ring.

“Terry Funk… he’d do anything. Y’know he could do all kinds of moves and s**t and do crazy bumps!”

With his contributions to the wrestling industry and impact on popular culture, Mick Foley remains a beloved and influential figure in professional wrestling.
