Jim Ross Explains Why He’ll Miss AEW Rampage On March 17th

Jim Ross

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has a storied career in wrestling commentary, and in recent years, he has been found on All Elite Wrestling’s weekly programming.

Back in June, Good Ol’ JR’s role on AEW Dynamite was reduced, and he’s been calling the action every week on AEW Rampage. However, he won’t be seen or heard on the March 17th episode, which was taped on March 15th in Winnipeg, MB.

On a recent episode of Grilling JR, Ross explained that he was off television this week as he is taking time off to recover from a hectic travel schedule in recent weeks. Speaking to co-host Conrad Thompson, he said:

“We had a lot of travel the last couple of weeks. You and I were talking off-air that I was gone like, oh hell, ten days.

“Living here in Florida, part-time, anyway, Florida to California is a haul. People can say what they want but that’s a long-a** trip.”

Continuing, Jim Ross explained that travel is hard on him as he is dealing with an ankle wound as the result of his battle with skin cancer.

“With my ankle as it is, the more I fly the more painful it gets because like any other human, your feet swell, your hands swell, it’s just normal flying s**t. But when you got a bad ankle and you’re trying to get this wound to close and not open, it’s challenging.

“We don’t have anymore of those bad trips.

“I did not make [Winnipeg] so therefore I won’t be on Rampage this Friday night.”

“I’m Enjoying This Week Off” – Jim Ross

Ross continued, saying that he’s enjoying his time off and using the time to take care of everyday tasks.

“I’m enjoying this week off, so to speak, I’ve got a lot of things to do. You know the stuff you do in your real life doesn’t stop. Big time TV personality my a**. I still gotta get a haircut today, I still have to go to the pharmacy.”

AEW Dynamite in Manitoba featured the debut of Taya Valkyrie, who came out to confront Jade Cargill following her TBS Championship defense against Nicole Matthews.
