Jim Ross Confirms When His AEW Contract Ends; Will He Call Sting's Last Match?

Jim Ross has confirmed that he has just over a month left on his current AEW contract.

The legendary voice of wrestling has previously alluded that his contract is nearing its end as he hopes that Tony Khan will re-sign him to the promotion. On the latest episode of Grilling JR, Ross gave an exact date.

During the podcast, the conversation was interrupted when the Hall of Famer received a phone call. Co-host Conrad Thompson joked that it was Vince McMahon who was calling, to which Ross responded that he was unavailable until the 14th. When Thompson asked if Ross’ contract expires on Valentine’s Day, Ross confirmed that was true.

Still looking to commentate on wrestling in the future, Ross would go on to say that he wants to finish his legendary career in AEW:

“I’d like to finish up in AEW… I love working with them.”

On numerous occasions, Ross has expressed how much he enjoys being a part of AEW and how well looked after he is by Khan and co.

While his appearances are currently occasional, Jim Ross has previously stated that he hopes to be on TV more regularly “sooner than later.”

Will Jim Ross Call Sting’s Final Match At Revolution?

Ross made a return to the desk on January 10th to commentate on the main event match that saw Sting and Darby Allin defeat Konosuke Takeshita and Powerhouse Hobbs. Although Ross was able to announce one of Sting’s last matches, he is hopeful that he will be able to announce the final match at AEW Revolution. However, the upcoming pay-per-view will take place on March 3rd after his contract expires.

Discussing the possibilities, Ross stated that he hopes that he and Tony Schiavone can be at The Greensboro Coliseum for the historic match as it feels like the right thing to mark the occasion:

“I mentioned that to Tony Khan last night. He agreed. It’s only right. It makes sense.

How can I say this without sounding like a turd? I think there’s money in Schiavone and I working together. Not just in Greensboro, but going forward, sporadically. And we have great chemistry, we’ve never lost that.

If he and I are doing the match with Sting and company… I believe it’s the right thing to do.

I need to get signed up so I can be there.”

Jim Ross recently revealed that he underwent surgery related to his cancer.
