Jim Ross has commented publicly after his slip of the tongue at the end of Wednesday’s edition of Dynamite pricked the ears of viewers of AEW’s flagship show.
With a return to Wednesday nights, AEW packed Dynamite from top to bottom with can’t miss television. Topped off by the incredible main event that pitted Inner Circle’s Spanish God Sammy Guevara against The Pinnacle’s leader and all-around bad egg MJF. Chris Jericho had joined the usual commentary team of Tony Schiavone, Excalibur, and Jim Ross and couldn’t help but get up from the announce table to head to the ring for his partner’s match. MJF’s War Dog Wardlow was lying in wait however and as he threw Jericho off the stage, he distracted the match referee long enough for Shawn Spears to live up to his Chairman nickname as he cracked Guevara over the head with a steel chair. This melee allowed MJF to clamber over Guevara for the pinfall victory.
After the match, AEW aired a video package as a thank you to Daily’s Place, Jacksonville, and those fans that have been able to go to their shows during the pandemic. As of next week, AEW returns to their touring schedule beginning in Miami with Road Rager. The video package highlighted some of the best moments of the company’s time in residence in Daily’s Place and included an emotional tribute to Brodie Lee. Lee debuted for AEW on their first show behind closed doors – which was originally scheduled for Lee’s hometown of Rochester, New York. Brodie Lee won and lost the TNT Championship during this time before tragically losing his life in December.
Other moments included in the package were Chris Jericho becoming the cocktail stick in a giant mimosa at the hands of Orange Cassidy, MJF turning on Inner Circle and forming The Pinnacle, Sting’s debut and Kenny Omega’s AEW World Title win.
After the package aired, the viewers of Dynamite saw shots of the excited AEW crowd as the commentary team offered their thanks and encouragement to those watching to snap up tickets when AEW heads to your town. Unfortunately during this moment, Jim Ross suffered a slip of the tongue and referred to the show as ‘WWE Dynamite.’
With the inevitable reaction from some on social media, Jim Ross himself took to Twitter to share his comments on the matter:
“Yep I apparently made an untimely error tonight at shows end. No excuses. And I’m not quitting.”
