On September 2nd, AEW made a shocking announcement that they had terminated the contract of CM Punk. Now legendary announcer Jim Ross has responded to Punk’s termination.
The decision came after Punk was involved in a physical altercation with Jack Perry at the AEW All In event. Following the incident, an investigation was conducted, which revealed that Punk had endangered innocent people backstage at AEW. Tony Khan also stated that he felt his life was threatened by Punk.
In response to the termination, AEW released an official statement addressing the situation. Additionally, Khan took the opportunity to address the live crowd in Chicago and the viewers of AEW Collision, shedding light on the reasons behind the decision. The news sent shockwaves through the wrestling community, with fans and industry insiders eager to understand the full extent of the situation.
During an interview at Starrcast, legendary commentator Jim Ross was asked how he would have handled Punk’s termination if he were in AEW’s position. Ross responded:
I don’t have any idea. I don’t have all the facts. Neither do you. Bottom line is, the show must go on. That’s up to the young men and women tonight to get in a huddle and bust their ass for the greatest show that people never expected.
Is Jim Ross Back In AEW?
Ross returned to call the opening matches of All In after he had been absent due to sustaining injuries to his leg following a fall. Ross also announced that he had beaten skin cancer, a diagnosis that he had received back in 2021.
Recently Jim Ross admitted on his podcast that his career is winding down but he still feels that he is more than capable of continuing to announce for AEW.
