Jim Ross Believes This WWE Veteran Is Destined For A Hall Of Fame Induction

Jim Ross Reflects On WWE's Missed Opportunity With Former King Of The Ring

Jim Ross has named this WWE veteran as a future Hall of Famer.

Ever since replacing Vince McMahon as the creative head of the promotion, Triple H has been in charge of selecting each year’s Hall of Fame inductees. Trusting The Game’s choice, AEW announcer Jim Ross recently shared veteran Jim Johnston’s name as a destined Hall of Famer.

Johnston is arguably one of the most popular music composers in the industry and was a part of World Wrestling Entertainment from 1985 until 2017. Responsible for creating the legendary themes of Steve Austin, The Rock, Vince McMahon, The Undertaker, Mick Foley, and more, Johnston has engraved his name in history.

While Johnston left the promotion almost seven years ago, his legacy still lives on in the company. Ross, a member of the 2007 Class of Hall of Fame, named Johnston as a future inductee. Speaking on his ‘Grilling JR‘ podcast, Ross believes Triple H will probably put the veteran in the HOF.

I think he’ll be in the WWE Hall of Fame at some point in time. Triple H is too aware of his surroundings, he understands who’s contributed what. So I’d be shocked that in my lifetime that Jim Johnston’s not in the WWE Hall of Fame. I believe that’s gonna happen. Nobody’s told me, I don’t communicate with WWE. It just seems logical, and that’s one thing I can say about Triple H’s reign as the head of WWE.

He does a lot of very logical, common sense things. Saturday Night’s Main Event was his idea, and it brought back some nostalgia, and they made it work. So I think Jim Johnston is destined to be a Hall of Famer in WWE.”

A few years ago, during an interview with Lucha Libre Online, Jim Johnston himself opened up on the current quality of music in the promotion and openly criticized it.

Jim Ross Explains NSFW WWE Attitude Era Segment

While the current WWE has been PG for a few years, it was not always the case. The late 1990s and early 2000s witnessed an emerging trend of risque products and NSFW segments on televised programs.

In an attempt to bring in more viewers, NSFW content became a norm for Monday-Night television. However, it went a step further at Armageddon 1999, when Miss Kitty went topless to celebrate her Women’s Championship victory.

Addressing the segment on his ‘Grilling JR‘ podcast, Jim Ross opened up on the creative behind that segment.

It was a way to try to entertain men 18 to 34. And if you’re a marketer, or you’re a business person, or you’re someone that has average intellect, you know that men 18 to 34, as a rule, like that kind of thing. So consequently, we’re trying to cater to our biggest and most viable demographic. Pro wrestling is a male show.

You can say, ‘Well, it’s this or that.’ If you lose your males, you’re out of business. So let’s not bullsh*t each other. Does it have a place for women? Absolutely, hell yeah, of course, women broadcasters and all kinds of things. We’ve got great women, you know, Rene Paquette at AEW is one of the most intelligent and informed people on TV as far as pro wrestling is concerned. She does a great job.”

In other news: Mercedes Mone’s next TBS Championship match has been confirmed.

Also on his podcast, Jim Ross was very complimentary of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.
