Jim Cornette Brands Return Of Several Released WWE Stars As “Triple H’s Mistake”

By James Holder. Published 4th November 2022.
Triple H

Back in August Triple H re-signed Hit Row and they made their return to WWE and Friday Night SmackDown, ten months after being released by the company. The group had previously proved popular in NXT and big things were expected when they were drafted to SmackDown. However, they were released shortly after their call-up and never really given an opportunity to shine.

Since returning the group has featured regularly on the blue brand, although not especially high up the card. In recent weeks the trio have feuded with Maximum Male Models and the newly promoted Legado Del Fantasma.

On the most recent episode of SmackDown, Top Dolla and Ashante “Thee” Adonis teamed with Shinsuke Nakamura to defeat Cruz Del Toro, Joaquin Wilde & Santos Escobar.

However, not everyone has been impressed with Hit Row’s comeback. Speaking on a recent episode of The Jim Cornette Experience, Cornette was critical of the group and Top Dolla in particular.

Jim Cornette Claims Bringing Back Hit Row Was Triple H’s Mistake

The legendary manager suggested that Hit Row were never some lost talent, instead the talent that was lost was Swerve Strickland, who was part of the original incarnation of the group but is now with AEW.

“This is Triple H’s mistake. He was trying to bring back all the talent they lost well, he brought them back but they’re not talent and nothing was lost here. What was lost was Swerve Strickland apparently.

Again, I saw the [highlights], I wasn’t treated to the entire thing, but I saw the clip that they released on their own recognisance, on their own website. And God they’re doing a four way at the start, B-Fab is just standing in the ring the manager is wandering around, and then they highlighted Top Dolla.

Top Dolla acts like he is a combination of Jimmy Superfly Snuka, The Rock and f*cking I don’t know, Gorgeous George. While he looks like a fat basketball dad on the playground is swearing that he can dunk and fail at every time but then watch this, watch this. He grabs the guy’s hand, he points to the turnbuckle like all the people are going to see me go to the turnbuckle. And then he wallers is fat ass up on top and stands there while the guys helping him balance and then he jumps off and gives him a Baba chop to the back of the head head.

Oh my God. This is a nearly 40 year old man. Did we not establish that he’s closing in on 40, and he’s dressing like he’s 16 on the playground in the hood.”

Since assuming creative control of WWE, Triple H has brought back a number of stars who were released by Vince McMahon including Bray Wyatt, Dakota Kai, Karrion Kross and Scarlett.
