Jim Cornette Speculates On Why Sammy Guevara Wrestled On Dynamite

Sammy Guevara & Tay Melo entrance

Jim Cornette has claimed that Sammy Guevara was able to wrestle in the main event of the October 5th edition of Dynamite due to his relationship with Chris Jericho.

In the lead up to the October 5th episode of AEW Dynamite Andrade El Idolo and Sammy Guevara had been locked in a fiery war of words on social media.

The issues appeared to stem from comments made by Andrade in a recent interview where he claimed that Guevara had complained about him being overly stiff during a match. Andrade said that he had discussed the incident with Guevara, while the Spanish God claimed that he hadn’t. In response, Guevara branded Andrade a liar, a “favour hire” and told him to go back to WWE.

The tension came to the boil ahead of the Dynamite taping where Andrade attempted to punch his rival. As a result his match from the following edition of Rampage was cancelled and he was sent home. By contrast, Guevara appeared in the main event of Dynamite alongside Chris Jericho as planned. In fact, Guevara scored the pin-fall for his team over Bryan Danielson and Daniel Garcia.

Speaking on a recent episode of his Jim Cornette Experience podcast, the legendary manager suggested that Guevara’s relationship with Chris Jericho meant he wasn’t also sent home.

“But conveniently, Sammy was teaming up in the main event on the television show with our friend Y2J. And obviously, Jericho said ‘Tony, you can’t send Sammy home, it’ll f*ck up our tag team match and I’m the most important thing in the world, and I’m your big star now. And the whole company is going to collapse if it’s not for me and my sports entertainment.’

And so Sammy ended up not only wrestling in the main event on national television, but he’s the one who gets the pin-fall when when Jericho knocks the other guy out, Sammy covers him 1,2,3. So Sammy gets his hand up and Andrade gets sent home for Sammy being the one to run his d*ck licker. And because again, Andrade was not on that podcast going I’m gonna slap the sh*t out of this guy, f*ck him, hey, Sammy, you listen to me. It was like one guy said I was stiff, complained about me, whined like a girl.”

It was reported in the hours after the incident that Andrade sparked the fight in order to get fired so he can return to WWE.
