Jim Cornette has praised reigning NWA Women’s World Champion Serena Deeb after her outing against Riho on The Buy In to AEW’s Double Or Nothing.
Cornette was speaking on his Jim Cornette Drive Thru podcast where he spoke highly on Deeb who has held the NWA Women’s Title since defeating Thunder Rosa for the belt in October 2020.
“Serena technically is – every time she has a match it feels like a contest. Unless it’s just with some ridiculous opponent which you just can’t take seriously. But she knows how to work, she knows how to make it a contest, all of her sh*t looks solid. I wish she was taller and a little bigger and had the, you know, movie star look – I mean, not that she doesn’t look good to begin with but she’s still a little on the smaller side. If you wanted to feature a girl as the centre of your women’s division, she has everything except maybe just a little bit more size. Even then she’s so good.”
Jim Cornette then went on to explain how he thinks Serena Deeb could offer even more value to AEW:
“It seems to me like they could get more value out of Serena running an actual women’s school, a specific school for women, and teaching the rest of their roster how to be almost maybe, partially as good as she is.”
Deeb was previously a trainer at NXT where she began coaching in February 2018. She was released from her WWE contract along with a whole host of other talents in April 2020 before making her AEW debut in September of the same year.
