Jim Cornette Names The AEW Superstar That Roddy Piper Would Have Loved

Wrestling legend Jim Cornette has named the current AEW star that he thinks the late, great WWE Hall Of Famer ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper would have loved.

Maxwell Jacob Freidman might only be 25 years old but he was rapidly risen through the AEW ranks to become the talk of the wrestling world. His microphone battle with CM Punk recently made headlines as MJF alluded to the likes of Triple H and John Cena to get under the former WWE Champion’s skin.

Now the Louisville Lip Jim Cornette has commented on one wrestling icon and master of the microphone that he thinks would love MJF – Roddy Piper.

Speaking on his Drive Thru podcast, Jim Cornette says Piper would appreciate MJF’s skills on the microphone and in the ring:

“I think [Piper] would love [MJF] and he would love it. I think he would say here is a guy that can talk his ass off, knows how to push people’s buttons, likes to get heat… If he saw his matches, especially the one with Darby Allin I think he would be very impressed with that.”

“So yeah, I’ve got to think that Roddy would be relieved that somebody has come along like that and still obviously takes the business fairly seriously and can go out and not do the same style that Roddy did, but go out in the same vein at riling people up on the microphone like Roddy did 40 years ago. I think he would approve wholeheartedly.”
