Jim Cornette Says He Doesn’t See Montez Ford Becoming World Champion

Jim Cornette has boldly claimed that he “doesn’t see” Montez Ford becoming a major champion in any major promotion.

Since debuting on WWE television as The Street Profits in the summer of 2017, the duo of Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins have shown time and time again that they want the smoke!

The high-flying duo have risen to the top of every tag team division they have been part of, winning the gold in NXT and on both Raw and SmackDown. In the process, they became only the second team to accomplish that feat.

While the two men have excelled as a team, many have predicted that Montez Ford will eventually break out and become a huge star as a singles performer. One of those predicting Ford’s bright future is WWE legend and Hollywood megastar The Rock.

During an appearance on the Out of Character podcast in February, Ford spoke of his admiration for the Great One. In response, The Rock took to social media to praise the star, tipping him as a future World Champion.

The former NXT star later admitted that he cried after reading the comments from his idol.

Speaking on a recent episode of Jim Cornette’s Drive Thru, the legendary manager gave his assessment of Ford. Cornette said that while others may have been won over, he doesn’t think that Ford will ever become a major champion.

“Well I ain’t seeing it. As for him breaking down into tears, a handshake, a hug, a gift card or a gift basket of being proud? But breaking down into tears? It is not even the guy who can make you into a world champion that is saying that. It is a very accomplished and biggest box office attraction kind of guy. But to cry over it, is he being figurative here? I’m sorry but I don’t see Montez Ford being a major champion in any major promotion, but that is just me.”

On the most recent episode of Monday Night Raw, the Street Profits squared off against the Usos in the main event, after confronting RK-Bro. Despite a strong showing, the pair were defeated by the SmackDown Tag Team Champions, seemingly setting up a clash between the two sets of champions.
