Jim Cornette Says Former TNT Champion Has Been “Buried In Plain Sight”

Jim Cornette TNT Championship

Jim Cornette doesn’t believe one former TNT Champion has been used to the best of his potential in AEW.

After defeating MJF at Double or Nothing and officially becoming All Elite, Wardlow made it clear that he had his sights set on obtaining gold in AEW. However, instead of going after Jon Moxley’s interim AEW World Championship, he challenged Scorpio Sky for the TNT Championship instead.

While he took a slight detour to face the American Arena Security Professionals after being served with a lawsuit by Smart Mark Sterling, Wardlow faced Scorpio Sky on the July 6th episode of Dynamite and won the TNT Championship in dominant fashion, pinning Sky with his foot on the former champion’s chest.

Speaking on the Jim Cornette Experience, the legendary wrestling manager and WWE Hall of Famer praised Wardlow for his charisma, but praised Scorpio Sky’s talent and indicated that the American Top Team member hasn’t been used to the best of his potential by AEW.

“But anyway, he [Wardlow] looks like a beast. And at one point, Scorpio Sky sold a kick to the nuts, Wardlow sold it for like five seconds and then Northern Lights suplexed the guy but I see what you mean. Wardlow has all of his charisma and Scorpios Sky does too. Sky is a good athlete, and I’ve liked his work in the past. But now after three years, there’s I mean, it seems like he should have come along and instead, they’ve just kind of buried him and buried him in plain sight.”

Elsewhere on the podcast, Cornette hit back at recent comments made by Kenny Omega.
