Jim Cornette recently had some high praise for Cody Rhodes, describing him as Vince McMahon’s idea of a dream talent.
To date, Cody Rhodes’ return to WWE have been an unequivocal success. After arriving back in the company at WrestleMania 38 to a monster ovation, the star has continued as a fan favourite has he battles Seth Rollins. Meanwhile, his quest to win the WWE Championship that his father never did, has tugged on the heartstrings of the WWE faithful.
Reflecting on Rhodes role back in WWE, Jim Cornette said that the star was the ultimate sports entertainer. Speaking on his podcast, The Jim Cornette Experience, the legendary manager said the American Nightmare is Vince McMahon’s “dream of a talent.”
“This is the atmosphere for Cody Rhodes, he’s a sports entertainer and the entrance, the Cody countdown and the presentation for this audience, and he’s so well spoken,” said Cornette. “Right now, he is Vince McMahon’s dream of a talent. He looks good, he wears a suit, he dresses up, you can push him as a star, and he goes out and he delivers verbally, and he can work.”
Although Cody Rhodes defeated Seth Rollins at WrestleMania, the rivalry between the pair has continued and only grown more intense. After believing that he only lost to Rhodes initially because he couldn’t prepare properly, Rollins challenged the star again at WrestleMania Backlash.
However, the result was the same, Rhodes scoring the win with a roll-up and a handful of tights, just as Rollins had attempted to do to him. Despite a second defeat, it has been announced that the feud will finally come to an end inside Hell In A Cell.
