Jim Cornette has lambasted AEW as he believes the company has “wasted” Adam Cole despite the former NXT Champion being All Elite for only three months.
Adam Cole shocked the system and the wrestling world when he made his AEW debut at the end of the All Out pay-per-view in September. Cole immediately reunited with his former Bullet Club comrades The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega in The Elite.
Since then Cole and The Bucks have been embroiled in a war with Jurassic Express and Christian Cage which culminated in a Falls Count Anywhere six-man tag team match at Full Gear. Jungle Boy picked up the win for his team after nailing Matt Jackson with a one-man con-chair-to.
Now it looks like The Elite is going to have their hands full with the CHAOS group of Best Friends and Orange Cassidy. Cole recently had a run-in with Orange Cassidy at the top of the entrance ramp which culminated in him and The Young Bucks taking Cassidy down before being chased off by Chuck Taylor and Wheeler Yuta.
One person who is not a fan of this direction for Cole is legendary wrestling manager Jim Cornette. Speaking on his Jim Cornette Experience podcast, Cornette slammed AEW for how they have used Adam Cole, saying that in NXT Cole was one of the best in the world:
“Adam Cole was one of the best performers in the world in NXT. I looked forward to his matches and interviews, and now he is doing bad skits with jobbers and mascots. Adam, I don’t know if you are embarrassed to be doing what you are doing with interacting with these clowns, but you should be!”
“They [AEW] have completely wasted Adam Cole. I just saw something that said that Kyle O’Reilly is not going to resign with NXT, and they have already got Fish. the only thing, and they better hurry, because if they reform The Undisputed Era, this fanbase would especially love it that this group in their swimming pool. That can be the only thing that can rehab poor Adam Cole from being seen as one of these silly f*cking play children, and they better do it quick.”
For Cornette it is the people surrounding Adam Cole on television that he has an issue with but says eventually the specialness of Cole will wear off by association:
“[…] The special comes off real quick, and people start to see through it. It’s not like it was a secret that Adam Cole is not that big, but he is getting away with it, he had the personality, the talent, and the promo forcefulness, he meant it like he was serious, and he had backup.”
“Now the only backup he has is children that he is playing with. Then a bunch of jobbers come out and act with his children friends, and they do fake sh*t on tv that nobody wants to see. It’s been over 2 years, and still the play kicking of the shins. F*cking hell, come up with another joke!”
Another former member of Cole’s Undisputed Group in NXT could be on their way out of the company after apparently saying their farewells after NXT 2.0.
