Since All Elite Wrestling’s inauguration in 2019, ‘Hangman’ Adam Page has been at the top of the picture, holding the AEW World and World Tag Team Championships along the way, and regularly being involved in crucial storylines. Despite this, he seems to have one of the highest cases of doubters in the Tony Khan-helmed promotion.
Given that he wasn’t a huge act at the time of AEW’s launch in comparison to the likes of Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega, Adam Page has had to work harder to be appreciated by the AEW audience. Regardless of how hard he tries, though, there’s seemingly no impressing Jim Cornette if you’re the former AEW World Champion.
Jim Cornette Believes Adam Page Has No Charisma
Speaking on the latest Jim Cornette Experience podcast, the vocal wrestling personality was keen to judge Page’s October 12th AEW Dynamite promo on Jon Moxley. While many thought the promo was engaging and added intensity to their AEW World Championship clash, Cornette wasn’t as convinced:
“Adam Page has – he said all the words here but he has zilch in the way of promo charisma, where he doesn’t make you think that it’s him talking, he’s reciting sh*t. He doesn’t put inflection or emphasis into a lot of it, it’s just his same blank stare and monotonic voice. Except when he flips out every once and a while and as he did here.”
Continuing, Jim Cornette explained how he thinks Adam Page is yet to cut a newsworthy promo that would draw new fans into him if they were watching him for the first time:
“I don’t know what to think about this, I mean I guess if you already liked Adam Page you thought, ‘Wow boy, what a promo’ but like most people, since they don’t already like him they thought, ‘What the f*ck is with this f*cking guy?’ He acts like a nerd trying to be a cowboy.”
Adam Page is currently slated to challenge Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship on the special Tuesday night Dynamite broadcast on October 18th.
