Jey Uso is the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
On the night 1 of WrestleMania 41, Jey Uso shocked the world when he defeated Gunther to win the Heavyweight Championship. Trapping The Ring General in his sleeper hold, Uso managed to tap Gunther out.
Soon after, during the WrestleMania 41 press conference, he sent a message to his critics. Welcoming the fans to the ‘Yeet Era’, Uso said,
“I just wanted to be a tag team wrestler with my twin brother. Once you start to progress and see different doors open, you want to take advantage of those opportunities. It’s been hard. Especially hard today because I feel like, our business, everyone is smart to it. We the last of a dying breed, that’s what I think. It’s damn near live theatrics, one shot, one take, live TV.
I take pride in all that. All my brothers and sisters. Everyone who put on today. Behind the scenes, we’re all a big family. I’m so grateful I get to do this little part. I go out there and wrestle, but the production crew, the people who drive the trucks, who load, catering, I love y’all. I love everybody. My hat’s off. Stay humble, ready to rumble. Welcome to the YEET Era. I don’t know what’s about to happen. I’m gonna embrace the hate. I’m gonna embrace the love. I dethroned the Ring General.
I’m the World Heavyweight Champion. I got side plates on this thing. This is the quickest I ever got…I had to wait two weeks when I won the IC Championship. I got a new shirt on. It’s love. YEET.”

On the same night, the New Day defeated the War Raiders to crown themselves the new Tag-team champions. Jacob Fatu also defeated LA Knight to earn his first United States Championship.
Triple H Defends Jey Uso’s Top WWE Position
During an interview on WWE’s YouTube channel ahead of WrestleMania 41, Triple H defended Jey Uso’s world title opportunity.
“Because people made it happen. Sometimes things happen organically along the way. They get you to where you want to be, and Jey through The Bloodline saga was sort of a linchpin in that storytelling, then goes off on his own. A lot of people question whether these guys, once they leave The Bloodline, once they leave Roman, once they leave Heyman, are they going to be anything more than a tag team that they already were, or are they going to just be what they were or are they going to succeed and be anything more. You give them the opportunity to do all those things.
Jey, when he had the opportunity to do it, would click on these moments. And at the end of the day, a lot of times, that’s what our business is just about. It’s about moments.”
