Jey Uso has recalled his immediate reaction after he made history by winning the WWE Royal Rumble match.
In a result that few saw coming, Uso eliminated John Cena to punch his ticket to WrestleMania in what one of the most star-studded Rumbles in the history of the match.
While the reaction online was mixed when all was said and done, the same could not be said for the thousands in attendance at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis who Yeeted with Uso to celebrate. Showing respect to the new number one contender, Cena embraced Uso after the match and congratulated him on his victory.
While appearing on the Nightcap podcast, Uso was asked what was going through his mind when he realised that he won the match:
“Oh sh*t. Oh sh*t. I’m sitting in the ring, and I’m telling you, when I pushed him off, I just watched him. Oh sh*t. Oh sh*t. I won the Royal Rumble.”
The former Intercontinental Champion entered the match at number 20 and lasted 36:59 with 3 eliminations before emerging as the last man standing.

One of the biggest success stories of the past couple of years, Uso moved from SmackDown to Raw in late 2023 to break away from The Bloodline Saga and to venture out on his own as a singles star. Becoming one of the most popular stars on the brand, Uso previously reigned with the Intercontinental Championship and is now set to be in one of the biggest matches of WrestleMania 41. However, during a previous interview, Jey Uso admitted he previously had concerns about being fired from WWE.
