Jey Uso has aligned himself with Universal Champion Roman Reigns in a shocking twist that occurred in the closing moments of this week’s episode of SmackDown.
Uso would open the show to face the repercussions of losing his I Quit match with Reigns at Hell In A Cell with the Universal Champion putting into simple terms that his cousin would now “fall in line” or face exile from his family. Uso was left crying in the ring, shouting that he hated Reigns as the Universal Champion left the ring.
The former SmackDown Tag Team Champion would return in the show’s main event to face Daniel Bryan in a qualifying match for the SmackDown Men’s Survivor Series team. Uso looked disgruntled throughout the match and stuck to a highly aggressive pace against the Leader of the Yes Movement. Reigns would make his way ringside during the bout, watching his cousin defeat the 4x WWE Champion in just under ten minutes and becoming the second member of Team SmackDown alongside Kevin Owens.
In the aftermath, Uso confessed “I’m with you. I understand now” and that he loved Reigns before hitting Bryan with a Superkick and Uso Splash. Reigns then demanded he “make him (Bryan) understand”, leading Jey to deliver an Uso Splash from the top rope through the announce table. Jey continued brutalising Bryan as the show went off the air, continuing to shout that he understood now.
This is just the latest twist in the long-running Roman Reigns and Jey Uso rivalry after Reigns managed to get Uso to say “I Quit” at Hell In A Cell last Sunday. Reigns had also defeated his cousin at Clash of Champions last month when Jimmy Uso threw in the towel for his incapacitated brother. Despite also being involved in the repercussions of Jey’s Hell In A Cell loss, Jimmy Uso did not appear on SmackDown and it remains to be seen how he’ll react to his brother’s change of heart.
