WWE Hall Of Famer Jerry Lawler doesn’t think Cody Rhodes measures up to the stature of his late father, the inimitable Dusty Rhodes.
Jerry Lawler and The American Dream Dusty Rhodes are no stranger to each other having teamed up a handful of times in the eighties before wrestling one-on-one for the first time ever, incredibly, in 2002. Rhodes was a larger-than-life character that captured the NWA World Heavyweight Championship on three occasions and is still revered to this day, years after his sad passing in 2015.
His youngest son Cody Rhodes returned to WWE at WrestleMania 38 and is not shy about wanting to win the one big prize his father never captured, the WWE Championship.
Speaking on RAW Talk Jerry Lawler was at his villainous best as he compared The American Nightmare to his legendary father but first, he couldn’t resist having a swipe at Rhodes’ famous tattoo:
“When is somebody going to talk about the elephant in the room, or should I say, the elephant on his neck? [Laughs] Come on, man! Why don’t he just go the full Mike Tyson and get something stupid tattooed right on his face? The guy comes out tonight looking like a cheap car salesman. He shouldn’t even be in the same ring with Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins.”
“I’m going to tell you something — Dusty Rhodes had more charisma and more talent in his little finger than Cody has in his entire body. And like Seth said, Dusty couldn’t win the championship — and he had all the charisma and the talent. What makes Cody think that he’s going to win the championship?”
The King also had some harsh words for Raw star Ezekiel and says he thinks he needs to grow his facial hair back in a hurry.
