The Jericho Appreciation Society finally fell apart on the August 9th episode of AEW Dynamite.
The show opened with a mandatory meeting featuring all members of the group, but things didn’t go to plan for Chris Jericho. He began to speak and tried to explain himself, but he was cut off by Daniel Garcia. The star said he’d put Jericho above everyone else, but questioned why his mentor wouldn’t do the same for him and left. Something that would become a theme.
Jake Hager said that everyone knows he “likes the hat” but he doesn’t like Jericho, so he left.
At this point, Jericho tried to stem the tide, and said everyone left had become a bigger star because of the group, but his plea failed. Tay Melo said she’s no longer proud to be part of the group, adding she plans to have her baby and return to become Women’s Champion without Jericho. Anna Jay said she was going to be selfish and win the Women’s Title that night before leaving with Melo.
Angelo Parker ran down all the things he’d done for Jericho, saying he had nothing left to give. Matt Menard did the same, mentioning Eddie Kingston and Kevin Owens (Steen) commenting that he understands why they hate The Ocho.
This left just Guevara who broke down his own loyalty to the cause while wearing his old Inner Circle vest. He said he wasn’t going to walk out on Jericho, and said if Jericho decided to do the right thing, he’d be waiting before leaving through the crowd.
The segment ended with a forlorn Jericho alone in the ring.
In recent news, NFL linebacker Dennis Gardeck performed Daniel Garcia’s signature dance move during an NFL game.
When Did The Jericho Appreciation Society Start?
The Jericho Appreciation Society formed on the March 9th, 2022 episode of AEW Dynamite. The faction came together in the days after Jericho’s loss to Eddie Kingston at Revolution. On Dynamite, the pair appeared to show each other respect, but Kingston was attacked by Jericho, Hager, Garcia, Menard, and Parker. The group added Tay Melo, Sammy Guevara, and Anna Jay that same month.
During their time together the faction feuded extensively with the Blackpool Combat Club.
In recent news independent wrestler Myung-Jae Lee talked about a time when Daniel Garcia choked him out in a restaurant.
