WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett has revealed why he never considered returning to the company in 2009, despite his rocky relationship with TNA at the time.
Speaking on his podcast My World, Jarrett was asked by co-host Conrad Thompson if he ever thought about calling then-WWE Chairman Vince McMahon to explore a possible return. Jarrett explained that the idea never crossed his mind, citing his age as the main reason.
“Think about it. [I was] 42 years old in 2009. Vince doesn’t hire 42-year-olds and goes with them as a talent, he just doesn’t,” Jarrett said. “In my mind, Vince has no use for a guy over 40 because that’s just where his head was at. I don’t think it’s a rationalisation, but that’s a part of it.”
Jarrett had briefly cut ties with TNA in 2008 following backstage issues involving Kurt Angle and Dixie Carter. Although he stepped away, Jarrett returned to TNA in 2009 after a short hiatus. Despite the internal conflicts, Jarrett remained with TNA until 2014, playing a key role both on-screen and behind the scenes.
Which Wrestling Legend Does Jeff Jarrett Believe Deserves A Better Send Off?
Jeff Jarrett spoke about how he believes Christopher Daniels deserves a better send-off from wrestling. Daniels made an announcement following his match on the January 18 episode of AEW Collision that he’d competed in his final match, which Jarrett expressed his dissatisfaction with as he feels that due to Daniels’ long tenure in the wrestling industry, he deserves a final match with more fanfare than what he received.
