Jeff Jarrett says the Owen Hart Cup means more to him than anything else in his career.

Ont he June 19th edition of Dynamite, AEW unveiled the brackets for the third annual Owen Hart Foundation Tournaments. This year, for the first time, Hart’s friend and tag team partner Jeff Jarrett will be part of the men’s tournament alongside the likes of Jay White, Claudio Castagnoli, and Bryan Danielson. The winner of the Cup will earn the opportunity for an AEW World Championship match at All In, scheduled to take place at Wembley Stadium on August 25th.

On the latest episode of Collision, a video aired showing an emotional Jarrett explaining his friendship with Hart and what being part of the tournament means for him.

“When I was asked officially about being in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, all the emotion came back. It’s hard for me to imagine it’s been 25 years, but there’s so many things about Owen that I remember like it was yesterday.

“In the late ’90s, we would become Tag Team Champions and I look back on those days as favourite days of my career. And his passing in May 1999, May 23rd, on that Monday, the following day, I made a promise to myself that I would be able to look [Owen Hart’s children] Oje and Athena in their eyes when it really meant something. They were little kids when it happened, but to let them know what a great man their father is. I’ve never, ever met anybody like him.”

“The Owen Means More To Me Than Anything I’ve Ever Done” – Jeff Jarrett

Jarrett went on to vow to make it through the tournament and be crowned the winner in Owen Hart’s home town of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The Last Outlaw invoked the spirit of the late Toby Keith to proclaim he still had it in him to reach the top one more time.

“I’m a 12-time former World Heavyweight Champion, I’m a two-time Hall of Famer. The Owen means more to me than anything I’ve ever done. You know, earlier this year, Toby Keith passed away, another good buddy of mine, and he had that song, “Ain’t as good as I once was, but I’m as good once as I ever was.”

To get the opportunity to win three matches and stand in the middle of the ring in Owen’s home town of Calgary, I’m absolutely going to do it.”

Unfortunately, Jeff Jarrett’s dreams were shattered by a returning AEW star.
