Jeff Jarrett has spoken about Tony Khan’s handling of the decision to terminate the AEW contract of CM Punk.
The announcement was made on social media, followed by AEW President Tony Khan addressing the live audience in Chicago during the AEW Collision event. Khan revealed that the termination was a result of Punk endangering people backstage during an incident at AEW All In, where Khan felt his own life was in danger.
AEW employee and talent Jeff Jarrett shared his thoughts, on his podcast My World, on how Tony Khan handled the situation. Jarrett emphasised that only Khan and Punk have the full context of what transpired.
The reality of the situation, you’re asking me to make comments on a situation that, and I really believe this, there are only two people in the world that have full context. Some people can say, ‘I knew this, I knew that.’ You may, but you don’t know what Tony knows and you don’t know what Phil [CM Punk] knows. Nobody knows but them two.
He commended Khan for his bold decision to address the situation head-on and be transparent with the audience. Jarrett even compared Khan’s approach to how his father, Jerry Jarrett, would have handled such a situation. He believed that getting in front of the issue and making a clear-cut decision was the right thing to do.
I believe my old man would have been aligned with it because, get in front of it. That’s a hard pill to swallow. The easy one would have been ‘wait until Monday.’ There are multiple things you could have done. A reconciliation, a cooling off period. We can talk about it ad nauseam, and it has been talked about over and over for months. Getting in front of things, with a clear-cut decision made, absolutely was the right thing to do.
What Does Jeff Jarrett Think Is Next For CM Punk?
With the termination of Punk’s contract, speculation arose about what might be next for the wrestling superstar. Jeff Jarrett and co-host Conrad Thompson engaged in discussions about potential landing spots for Punk, including New Japan Pro-Wrestling, GCW, Rev Pro, Impact, and even WWE.
