Jeff Jarrett named the fellow WWE Hall of Famer he considers the Michael Jordan of professional wrestling.
Speaking on the latest edition of his My World podcast, AEW Director of Business Development Jeff Jarrett was full of praise for WWE Senior Vice President of Talent Development Shawn Michaels, comparing him to NBA legend Michael Jordan.
“I said it in my Hall of Fame speech — I think Shawn [Michaels] is one of those guys that is the Michael Jordon of professional wrestling. You kind of look at his body of work, his back-to-back years against [The Undertaker]. … Their matches [were] just off the charts. And then you take Shawn and Bret [Hart].” (h/t WrestlingInc)
Jarrett made it clear that he meant no disrespect to Hart, who is a legend in his own right. He also revealed that Ric Flair was angry in the past about making the comparison between Michaels and Jordan, but according to Jarrett, Michaels could have a good match with anyone and his body of work makes him worthy of that praise. In addition, Jarrett pointed to Shawn Michaels’ command of a microphone, noting that he was effective as both a hero and a villain.
Jeff Jarrett Had Surprising Prediction About The Undertaker
Elsewhere on the podcast, Jeff Jarrett made the surprising prediction that following Mark Calaway’s retirement in 2020, another performer will someday take on the mantle of The Undertaker.
“Buddy, timing is everything, and creative is subjective. But can you imagine, and again, when I say timing, I’m not talking about the mechanics of a match. I’m talking about the whole essence of a storyline and the build, and again, you have, I’ll just use…can you imagine the right set of circumstances, the gong go off, the Undertaker’s gong?
“Look, Mark’s doing one-man shows now, and he’s very active, [he has a] podcast and all that. So maybe today the time isn’t right, I don’t know. But do I think it’s a real possibility? I think it’s almost a guarantee [that someone else does the Undertaker character].” (h/t Fightful)
