Jeff Jarrett Believes That Abyss Could Have Feuded With WWE's Biggest Legends

WWE Hall of Famer and AEW star Jeff Jarrett shared his thoughts on how a WWE career would have unfolded for TNA legend Abyss if he had made the jump during the height of his popularity in the late 2000s.

Speaking on his podcast, My World, Jarrett predicted that Abyss would have enjoyed a highly successful, but ultimately brief, in-ring run with WWE.

“I would have said something to the effect, ‘Abby, you’re going to go have a run with Undertaker and you’re probably going to have a run with Kane, and if all goes according, which I have no reason to believe that you won’t do fantastic business with both guys, then you’re going to get a run with Cena. Then it’s going to be over, because they’re not replacing Taker or Kane, and Cena is irreplaceable.”

Jarrett envisioned Abyss being a perfect fit for feuds with the promotion’s biggest stars of the era, including The Undertaker, Kane, and John Cena. However, he noted the challenges Abyss would have faced in sustaining long-term momentum within the company.

“They’ve already got monsters there, and so I think you’re going to have a rocket attached to you, but I have no idea where you will land after that.”

The success of Abyss’s hypothetical WWE career, Jarrett added, would have depended on his ability to establish a strong relationship with then-Chairman Vince McMahon.

“It would have come down specifically to that.”

Abyss ultimately remained with TNA throughout his wrestling career, retiring in 2019 after being inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame in 2018. He now works as a producer for WWE, contributing behind the scenes rather than inside the ring.

Why Did Jeff Jarrett Say He Decided To Sign Another 1-Year Extension To His AEW Contract?

Jeff Jarrett spoke about his reasoning for extending his AEW contract for another year and said that he thought about it long and hard but ultimately decided that he wasn’t ready to hang up his boots just yet. Jarrett said that he wanted one more run and potentially would like to capture the AEW World Championship before he retires for good.
