Jeff Hardy hasn’t wrestled since teaming with his brother Matt at AEW Double or Nothing on May 29th, 2022.
Just days after the match Hardy was arrested for a DUI-related offence and suspended by AEW. Following his suspension the star also entered a rehabilitation facility. Reports on Hardy’s progress have been few and far between with only occasional updates from Matt that his brother is doing well.
However, the AEW star has now cast fresh doubt over whether Jeff will ever wrestle again.
Could Jeff Hardy’s Career Be Over?
Speaking on his podcast, The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the tag team legend said that it was “unfortunate” what happened with Jeff, commenting that he’s unsure whether he comes back at wrestling at all.
“It’s just very unfortunate, the things that happened with Jeff. Hopefully it’s something that he is going to make into a positive and he’s going to turn everything around in his life, and he can come back and be better. We’ll see, I don’t know, I don’t know.
Maybe he comes back, maybe he doesn’t, but we were scheduled to do all kinds of things during the summer and it really sent me down a big path of detour following that, but it is what it is. It’s pro wrestling where you have to adapt and change on the fly, and I’ve made the most of it and tried to do what I can.”
Matt Hardy also confirmed reports from back in June that the pair had been scheduled to win the AEW World Tag Team Titles.
“Yeah, I think we were going to see the Hardys as the AEW World Tag Team Champions if Jeff didn’t suffer that very unfortunate twist of fate.”
Jeff Hardy is set to attend a pre-trial hearing on January 18th.
