Jeff Hardy has spoken out about his relationship with NXT’s Cameron Grimes and believes that the wrestling world will see great things from him in the years to come.
Many people don’t know that ‘The Charismatic Enigma’ has been a close friend and mentor to Grimes – real name Trevor Lee Caddell – behind the scenes in a relationship which dates back to Hardy knowing and working for the talent’s father.
Co-founder of OMEGA Championship Wrestling, Grimes’ father provided the ring in which Matt and Jeff Hardy would train and put on their own shows.
Speaking to Sports Illustrated, Jeff Hardy talked about Cameron Grimes and what he expects from the man he has closely mentored over the last few year:
“Trevor is incredible. He’s just so talented. Many, many moons ago, even before I debuted in WWE against Razor Ramon in ’94, I was training in Trevor’s dad’s old yard. That’s where our ring used to be. I can still remember doing shooting stars and landing on my feet, doing reverse-450s and landing on my feet.
I remember when Trevor was a little baby, he was in that ring. I’ve seen him grow up, and to see him so big and healthy and athletic, it’s a beautiful thing. His dad passed away at the age of 50, but I’m sure he’s living vicariously through his son. It’s such a cool thing to see another human being come from this little antique town called Cameron, N.C., and be on this main stage. He is such a talented and deserving individual, and I wish him the best of luck.”
Currently on NXT television, Cameron Grimes is involved in a storyline with the psychedelic Dexter Lumis who, after the NXT Halloween Havoc affair, swears has special powers.
On Wednesday night’s edition of the black and gold brand, Grimes placed a bag over his rival’s head in order to stop him using said powers, sat him on a steel chair and dropped him with a vicious Cave In. It is widely believed that the pair will clash again at the upcoming NXT TakeOver 32 event.
